Friday, March 26, 2010
We wonder when some designers make furniture from steel or cactuses, other ones prefer to use people for this purpose. It sound strange enough. But not for David Blazquez.
David Blazquez's collection looks impressive at least. But it is very difficult to say whether we like it or not. The collection made by a man and from men. However photographers use women in their collections more frequent. The beauty of feminine body helps them to express their feelings. This time we see something opposite.

The collection by spanish photographer David Blazquez was named “MOBILIARIO HUMANO” or "Human Furniture".

David Blazquez explores the idea of "naked bodies" furniture in his 1st exhibition at seville’s el fotomata gallery. His background in image manipulation shines through in this series which depict various pieces of furniture made from naked male bodies. In every work of ‘Human Furniture’, the artist himself appears in the nude, often in multiples embodying the furniture and props in the photographs. the series explores the concept of objects, nudity and the self-portrait. the series includes a variety of ‘furniture’ subjects all shot in black and white including an ironing board, bathtub and floor lamp.
